Two-story House – island of Evia, GREECE
Position
The house is on the edge of Belos, an old village bordering on the ancient vineyards of the
area, from which it takes its name, with views out over the fields to a medieval tower
further down the valley. It is situated in the central region of the Greek island of Evia
(Euboea), which is linked by two bridges to the mainland and is just 70 kilometres
northeast of Athens.
Construction
The house is of traditional stone construction, reflecting building styles over the last two
centuries, reinforced internally with a steel and concrete frame. The ground floor is tiled
while the first floor has wooden flooring. Both the tiled roof and walls are fully insulated.
The windows are of the latest technology with double glazing and a wood-style finish.
Accomodation
There are two good-sized bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor with a third
bedroom/ study and toilet on the ground floor. The main living area has an open fireplace,
off which an arched doorway leads to the kitchen area. All rooms have a view out over the
valley. Total area is 116 square metres (1,249 sq. ft).
Garden area and Utilities
The garden is south facing, raised two metres above the road at the front, providing
uninterrupted views. The house is connected to water and electricity with a cesspit in the
